Get Moving

The secret to being more relaxed has nothing to do with how many pillows you use to prop yourself up on the couch! It’s all about how you move. Relaxation comes from effortless movement.

Learn about the foundations of relaxation in these easy-to-follow, free, home-study courses. I’ve taken some of the basics from tai chi, qigong, and whole-body breathing and distilled them down into a few exercises you can learn on your own. When you complete each series, you’ll have a personal practice that will make you feel looser, more relaxed, and more full of energy. Of course, if you have questions about how to take these further I can help you with those too. For starters, pick one of these courses and get signed up!

Loosen Up Your Joints:

Nobody ever feels good getting out of bed in the morning and feeling stiff, right? But did you know that one of the primary ways your body knows where you are in space is through the movements of your joints? If they move well, your body has lots of information (called “proprioception”) and as a result, lets you move confidently through the world. If your joints are bound and stuck, all kinds of funny shut-down reflexes kick in.

To get a feel for what healthy, relaxed, whole body movement feels like, you need to start moving all the individual pieces in isolation. This is part of a larger training approach.

Let me guide you through a whole series of these exercises in a free “Mobility Tips” email series.
